Controlled Drugs Management
The objective of the Controlled Drugs Management course is to review the current legislations and good practice guidance relating to controlled drugs (CD’s) in a wholesale/supply environment. Your obligations and responsibilities as a licence holder (WDA, CD licence) and the management of CD’s will be outlined, as will it be for doctors, dentists and pharmacists and all staff who will be coming into contact with controlled drugs at any time in the course of their duties.
What does this course contain?
The course contains references to current legislations an overview of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, legal and expected compliance requirements for everyone involved in the management, processing, storage and handling, prescribing, possession and supply, exportation and record keeping of CD’s. It will cover the definitions and background of the legal framework regarding Controlled Drugs, their safe and legal disposal/destruction and common deficiencies.
Who is it for?
This course is for dentists, doctors, pharmacists, warehousing personnel, and staff involved in the import/export of CD’s. It is for companies that hold a CD licence and/or a WDA licence or who are considering preparing themselves to apply for a CD licence. RP’s and licence holders are expected to have a GDP awareness of this area to remain compliant, and also to keep the staff of companies that contract them fully abreast of the required standards.
What can I get out of it?
You will be equipped with a knowledge of the legal framework around CDs, the legal requirements surrounding procurement and supply, GDP compliant awareness regarding the correct handling, storing and processing of CD orders and stock to a standard that meets the established GDP compliance criteria, as stipulated and required by the MHRA.
