This is NOT something you want to discover in your licensed premises!

Pest Control – The Wholesaler’s Burden

The UK is having increasingly frequent warm  summers, and an upward trend in temperatures is likely. The rodent population will likely surge, and they will all be looking for food, warm spots, places to nest and breed. A mild winter is sometimes a precursor to a flying insect population boom, too.

An unchecked Pestilence problem can do extensive and costly damage to both stock and electrically powered machinery. You would also potentially be in contravention of the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)

Although rodents are themselves inherently clean, their droppings and urine are a potent contaminant containing many bacterium that pose a serious risk to human health, and can be easily missed in stock inspections. Equipment wiring may get chewed damaging the equipment, potentially causing a fire in the event of an electrical short.

Increasing your Pest Control Knowledge and Awareness

Paradigm Shift Consulting Ltd want to help you be prepared and “tooled up” to keep unwanted visitors out of your premises and stock.

Prevention of contamination and protection of your products can be achieved with simple routines, such as not storing goods directly on the floor (use pallets), keep food and food waste well away from the storage area, and have systems in place at loading bays to combat pestilence ingress.

We have created a new Pest Control Training Course that will show you what needs to be in place to remain within GDP compliance. Successful completion of the course will provide you with printable certification which is required as evidence of training by the inspectors.

The Pest Control Course covers topics including (but not limited to):

~ Documentation

~ Contractual Arrangments

~ Risks of improper, poor or non-existent pest control

~ Pest Control Techniques

~ How to spot evidence of Pest Ingress

~ Consequences of pest activity and failure to tackle the problem

You would also find out about what actually attracts vermin, why pests may find their way into your premises, what to look for, and how you can determine where pests may be accessing the building, such as cracks and holes in the walls and floors.

Pest Control – Training and Advice

Paradigm Shift Consulting have a comprehensive training platform, which includes a course specifically for Pest Control. The course is clearly laid out and well priced. Start-up businesses with low staff numbers are highly encouraged to engage the course and subject, as pest control is easily overlooked at the outset. The cost of not preparing for pestilence ingress is quite exponential, and could be fiscally damaging to a young company.
There would be quarantining to undertake, contracted pest control service costs, and the expense of replacing stock.

Successfully completing the course will produce a certificate of training valid for 12 months. The Paradigm Shift Consulting certificate is valid evidence of training, when presented to inspectors.

Everything that Paradigm Shift Consulting does is designed to help you do your job correctly, and in a way that is with GDP compliance. We never “take the money and run”. However, if we can see you heading into dark and dangerous waters, we will advise you to stop what you are doing, and do everything we can to steer you away from (very expensive) trouble.

We want to see your business work in the interest of patient health and safety.

Get In Touch

Are you having repeated difficulty controlling pestilence ingress? Are you seeing mice or insects, or evidence of them around the warehouse? Are Pest Control call-outs happening too often? Or perhaps your staff are not actually trained?

If you’re just getting started, train your staff immediately, as you cannot have staff engage their tasks without initial certificated GDP training (EU GDP Guidelines 2013/C 343/01, Ch 2.4, para 1).
