Why RPs and Management must Work Together

The Good Distribution Practice for RPs and Management Course is a comprehensive tutorial, which  explores and explains all the chapters of the original EU GDP Guidelines (2013/C 343/01).

It is not possible to operate in the pharmaceutical wholesaling business without GDP training, and everything that comes with it. All of it is designed to protect the product, protect the patient, and deter/prevent falsified and counterfeit medicines reaching the patient through the supply chain.

Good Distribution Practice involves a competent and effective QMS (Quality Management System), good documentation, risk assessments, quality control and proper registration of all the businesses involved, not to mention the up-to-date training of all staff involved in the GDP process.

It can be said that the entire GDP process and all the affiliated functions associated with it, is a large and effective organic market flitration device; designed to prevent poor quality or counterfeit medicines reaching the patient, while simultaneously only permitting bonafide good quality products through to the UK market.

For this to work effectively at all, it requires:

  1. Staff who are keyed up with a sharp eye for detail, interested in their work and the products, from picker/packers to the CEO.
  2. Good clean premises, storing the products correctly and safely.
  3. Prompt customer service responses.
  4. A personnel-wide awareness and conciousness of Patient Safety.
  5. Reliable, accountable and registered contracted services such as Pest Control, Haulage, IT maintenance, Cleaning etc.
  6. Faithful and rigid adherence to the SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  7. Regular training, self inspections and comprehensive record keeping.
  8. Good works relationship between RPs and Management.
  9. Regular productive RPs and Management meetings.

Public health affects everyone, and accumulatively costs the UK economy billions of pounds per year.

Companies that are licensed and engaged in the Good Distribution Practice of pharmaceuticals, are actively playing a part in helping people stay active, stay in employment, stay mobile and comfortable in difficult times.

This cannot ever be achieved without correct and qualified GDP training dispensation.
